FCE writing correction: get your essay marked by a teacher

Send one B2 First writing task and a qualified teacher marks it on the four official criteria, explains every mark and shows you exactly what to fix next. It's part of our B2 First Writing guide, and you track every correction in your account.

What you get

  • A mark out of 5 for each criterion: Content, Communicative Achievement, Organisation and Language, so you see exactly where marks are won and lost.
  • A comment on each criterion that quotes your own text: what worked, what cost marks and how to fix it.
  • Overall feedback with next steps: the two or three changes that will raise your score most.
  • Everything saved in your account, so you can compare your corrections over time.

You can send any task type from the exam: the Part 1 essay, or a Part 2 article, email, letter, review or report. Practise first with our writing checker and the model answers, then send your best attempt.

How it works

  1. 1

    Create a free account

Sign in with your email: no password needed. Your corrections and practice scores are saved in your account.

  2. 2

Paste the task and your answer

Include the full task, with any notes you had to use, so the teacher can judge Content fairly. Answers should be one task of around 140–190 words.

  3. 3

    Pay securely

Payment is handled by Stripe. We never see your card details.

  4. 4

    A teacher marks it

Your text is assigned to a qualified teacher, who marks it on the four criteria and writes detailed comments.

  5. 5

    Read your feedback

You get an email when your feedback is ready. Rewrite your text using the comments, then try a new task.

How to get the most from a correction

A correction is most useful when the text is really yours and written under exam-like conditions. Give yourself about 40 minutes, plan for five, write for thirty and check for five, just as you would in the exam. Don't use a translator or an AI tool to polish it first: the teacher needs to see your real level, including the mistakes, to give you advice that works on exam day.

When your feedback arrives, don't just read it. Rewrite the paragraph that lost the most marks, then add your typical mistakes to an error log and check for them in your next task. Most students improve fastest by alternating: one corrected task, then two or three practice tasks where they check their own writing with our writing checklist.

Questions about writing correction

Who marks my writing?

A qualified English teacher with experience preparing students for B2 First. You'll see their marks and comments in your account.

How long does it take?

Usually a few days. You get an email as soon as your feedback is ready.

Can I send more than one task at once?

Each correction covers one task, so the teacher can give detailed comments. Send each task separately.

What if my answer is much longer or shorter than 140–190 words?

We accept it, but the teacher will comment on length, because in the exam it affects how well you cover the task.

Is my writing kept private?

Yes. Only you, the assigned teacher and our admin can see it. See our privacy policy.
